A Chinese Export silver tazza. The base and stem is in the form of bamboo. The bamboo stems rise from roots that form the base and support a large mother of pearl dish which is secured with pins in the form of swallows. Bamboo symbolises resilience and swallows come in the Spring and so symbolise new beginnings. A wonderful centrepiece, this is an early example of the craftsmanship of Wang Hing – note the signature is stamped in full – only on early pieces crafted by the master himself.
