An Indian colonial silver tankard with the pseudo hallmarks of Lattey Bros of Calcutta. Appointed by the British East India Company the firm was only in operation between 1843 and 1855 so this tankard is over 150 years old.
Heavy, sturdy, standing on cast feet – a style much used by the Lattey Bros – the body of the mug is worked with oak leaves and acorns symbolising longevity, humble beginnings, patience, faith, power, endurance, and strength. There is a large vacant shaped shield reserve for engraving
