The deep reposse work shows various creatures from the Jataka tales including the mythical “Kinarra” – a person with wings that helps humans in the forest
The Jatakas are moralistic tales either from the life of Budda or from parables taught by the Buddha

The bowl’s decoration is in the classic style with a polished rim below which there is scrolling detail.
The central panel shows the Jataka, The base is chased with lotus leaves.
What is special about this Burmese bowl is the addition of the piercing which is augmented by the fine rope detail around the borders
The engraving of the monkey god on the base limits the age to late 19th century
