Sugar Bowl Revival

Thanks to my new efforts on digital marketing I am being discovered.  Last week a fellow phoned and asked for a sugar bowl Over the years I have had some strange requests but I have never been asked for a sugar bowl- it’s the piece that’s always left behind in a tea set.  You use the tea pot and you use the cream jug but the bowl with the handle ears never seems to be needed But the fellow was insistent and came round and looked at all the various bowls I had and finally settled on a really pretty Victorian English silver bowl made to look Indian (another story ..) .  I didn’t have any with handle ears!

I asked him why he wanted a sugar bowl and he explained that he was celebrating his 6th wedding anniversary which was the sugar anniversary.  He liked silver and this was the perfect piece as a gift for his wife. I must go back and see if I have any rejected bowls with handles in the cupboard… And I did go back and found this tiny little sugar bowl – the size of my thumb nail.  It must have been made by the Chinese craftsman to show the quality of his work.  It still has the lid.  And the scenes on the piece have been worked in the most amazing detail.  So the next time I have the perfect piece for that 6th wedding anniversary present
