An early 20th century Chinese export silver bowl.
The bowl has lobed rounded circular form with a wavey rim and the twin handles are modelled as flowering prunus branches. It stands on a spreading circular foot.
The body of the bowl has applied decoration of six alternating panels each with auspicious meanings.
The water lily symbolises long life, health, honor and good luck
A Chinese dragon amidst clouds symbolises power and success
Flowering plum blossom with birds wishes resilience and new beginnings
Storks among iris flowers are for faith and hope and nuptial bliss ( Cranes mate for life)
Chrysanthemums offer a prosperous life, positive growth, joy, and unwavering optimism.
A long tailed bird among bamboo suggest resilience and joy in nature
Each panel has additional chased decoration.
The foot reflects the decoration on the body of the bowl with alternating flat chased panels of bamboo, flowering prunus, and chrysanthemum.
