Description

This sterling silver body of this potato dish ring is embellished with impressive embossed and pierced scrolling foliate and floral decoration.

In amongst the foliage you can find animals – a sheep and a dog, birds and a house and a lady in the clouds
The ring features a shaped vacant cartouche on one side and a  cartouche on the other side which has been engraved with intertwining initials and the dates 1890- 1915 – a very special gift for a silver wedding anniversary

The potato dish ring is fitted with the original removable clear glass dish.

Another way to use the dish ring is to place a piece of glass on top and then it can serve as a base for either food or flowers
Such an elegant way to serve food
* The dish ring, also known as a potato ring, was introduced in the late 17th century and used to support a hot food dish on a table or sideboard; not only adding to the ornamentation but also protecting the surface against heat.
