GEORGIAN SILVER SALVER

A Georgian silver salver dating from 1781- a mere 245 years old!

With the  English silver hallmark system we know for sure that this salver does indeed date from then

On this salver we have the lion passant – (confirming that the salver is sterling silver ) the crowned leapord ( showing it was made in London) the date letter f (the letter for 1781) and the makers marks -John Cotton & Thomas Head

This salver predates the duty mark which was introduced in 1784

The simplicity of Georgian silver means that it fits into every age. The round central reserve is still remarkably crisp..  The ball and claw feet are typical of the period

A piece of history that can be used as a champagne coaster, serve  chocolates or even for calling cards – which was what it would have been used for originally
