The raised double sided border is finely hand engraved with trailing flowers – all with auspicious meanings
Lotus for strength and resilience
Plum blossom for new beginnings
Peonies for happiness, wealth, romance
The centre of the tray is lightly hammered which means that will not show every scratch
The tray was retailed by Musashya of Yokohama.
Much of the Japanese Export silver was retailed through Yokohama and the name of Musashya is associated with Samurai swords and even today with steel knives.
