An early 20th century Chinese Export silver ice bucket
The ice bucket is hand engraved with bamboo branches which have been highlighted with green enamel.
There is a round reserve for engraving.
The upper rim has a reed and ribbon border .
The bucket has the original ice tongs ( also engraved with bamboo and decorated with added enamel) . There is an inner level to catch the melted water
Bamboo symbolises resilience – it bends in the wind and comes back up
This style is romantically described as “Bamboo in the moonlight”
